Gear Gab: This was my longest hike in my Ahnu boots, which are my absolute favorite hiking boots. Hiking poles are a must. The trail is often steep stairs and the hiking poles will help your knees. We rented the ones we used from the tour company.

I read many blogs that recommended buying the cheap poncho from the hawkers at the start of the trail. I would NOT recommend this, especially in the rainy season. Adam had a proper poncho, while the one I bought there was very thin and easily ripped. Spend the $20 on a proper rain-proof poncho before you hit the trail and you'll be much happier in the rain.
